TRAUMA 2024: Creating Consistent and Coordinated Trauma Care
Mississippi Trauma Care System Foundation
Mississippi Trauma System of Care Symposium
Creating Consistent and Coordinated Trauma Care
April 23-25, 2024
WITH SPECIAL PRE-SYMPOSIUM COURSES ON Tuesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 24, 2024
The Mississippi Trauma Care System Foundation is pleased to host the fourth annual statewide trauma system of care symposium at the Sheraton Flowood, The Refuge Hotel and Conference Center, Flowood, MS. The agenda is exciting, and the educational offerings blend our most requested topics and new first-time program offerings.
Tuesday, April 23, 2024, offers three tracks. We will host the AAAM AIS15 on-site course for our Level I-III trauma center staff for the first time. The course is conducted over two (2) days and facilitated by AAAM faculty. There will be an additional cost for this course. For the first time, we will host the Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) for our MS-licensed Emergency Medical Services staff. The third track will offer general cadaver labs for basic emergency procedures & a Mock Trial designed to consider trauma care and the legal ramifications for those not attending the AAAM or TECC courses.
Wednesday, April 24, 2024, the AAAM course will continue with the same group. TECC, a one-day course, will be offered to a second group of students. The Wednesday morning cadaver lab is reserved for medical staff providers to focus on their unique needs. The fourth track provides trauma registry training for those not attending the AAAM course. The registry course is an all-day course to meet annual training requirements.
Thursday, April 25, 2024, will unite everyone all day. During the morning sessions, panels will drill down on the lessons learned during the Rolling Fork and Silver City Tornado beginning the night of March 24, 2023. The panelists will give eyewitness accounts of the initial and secondary response starting at ground zero, including representatives at every level of the trauma care system. Thursday is an excellent agenda for hospital executives and care providers. Most importantly, students will learn substantive actions ready for implementation and the emerging goals to be better prepared for the next event.
In the afternoon, we will have updates from the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH, BACS) and a pediatric lecture. The symposium will conclude with case studies led by our State Medical Director and a trauma panel of experts.
