Navigating Trauma: The Good, The Bad and The Healing
May 5-7, 2025
WITH SPECIAL PRE-SYMPOSIUM COURSES ON Monday, May 5 and Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
The Mississippi Trauma Care System Foundation is pleased to host the fifth annual statewide trauma system of care symposium at the Natchez Convention Center, 211 Main Street, Natchez, MS 39120. The agenda is exciting, and the educational offerings blend our most requested topics and new first-time program offerings.
Monday, May, 5, 2025, offers 4 tracks. We will host the PHTLS one day on-site course for our Pre-Hospital first responders. The course is offered for over one (1) day and facilitated by UMMC Trauma Resuscitation Center faculty. For the first time, Registry Training by Image Trend will offer 2 one day registry training sessions. The registry course is an all-day course to meet annual training requirements.
The third track will offer general cadaver labs for basic emergency procedures for all healthcare providers provided by the AirCare staff. The fourth track will be a mini–Boot Camp consisting of pediatric trauma, Burns, Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma- FAST- exams, and neuro strangulation over a 4 hour period. The first time offered at the symposium will be the Escape Room challenge with real life trauma scenarios.
Tuesday, May 6, 2025 The same tracks will be offered again on the second pre-symposium day. We will host the PHTLS one day on-site course for our Pre-Hospital first responders. Wednesday, May 7, 2025, will unite everyone all day. We will hear from trauma experts from various fields of healthcare including prehospital responders. Most importantly, students will learn substantive actions ready for implementation and the emerging goals to be better prepared for the next event.
In the afternoon, we will have updates from the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH, BACS) and a pediatric lecture. The symposium will conclude with case studies led by our State Medical Director and a trauma panel of experts.
