Lead Speaker: Beverly Burt, RN, BSN, CIC - Beverly received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Mississippi College in 1978. She has served in the role of infection preventionist for the past 30 years, primarily at an acute care facility. Prior to being an infection preventionist, she worked as a nurse in the following areas: critical care, telemetry, catheterization lab, operating room, utilization review and quality improvement. Beverly has been certified in infection prevention and control since 1995 and also served on the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC)Test Committee for two years from 2012 to 2014. While serving on the CBIC Test Committee, she developed test questions for the CBIC exam. Beverly is a member of APIC and has served in various roles in her local APIC Chapter as President, President-elect, Treasurer, Bylaws Chairman, Nomininating Chairman and Board member. Beverly began her own infection prevention consulting company in 2014, Professional Infection Prevention Services, LLC. She has worked as an infection prevention consultant for Mississippi State Department of Health, The Mississippi Public Health Institute, Mississippi Hospital Association Health, Research, and Educational Foundation, Inc. and APIC Consulting Serivices, Inc.
