The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services (CMS) and the American Medical Association (AMA) have
finalized sweeping changes to the documentation and coding guidelines
for evaluation and management (E/M) services. The changes are
scheduled to be implemented January 1, 2021. The adequacy of
clinical documentation and accuracy of coding are critical to an
organization’s compliance and financial success. Ensuring that
your staff know and understand the changes and that the updates are
made to your systems in a correct and timely manner.
