WEBINAR: NHSN Basic Training

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Safety Healthcare Network (NHSN) is the nation’s most widely used health care-associated infection (HAI) tracking system. NHSN can also be very complicated, as evidenced by its 321-page manual. This webinar is for those who have completed the NHSN training modules and are still confused; received limited, if any, training; and those who had the best training, yet want to ensure they haven’t missed anything. Join our presenter for a streamlined, easy-to-understand training on the basics of using the Patient Safety Component of NHSN including the application of MDRO-LabID and CAUTI.

Learning Objectives:
1. Navigate the National Healthcare Safety Network’s (NHSN) website
2. Understand and implement the Big Five
3. Discuss the basic requirements for identifying healthcare-associated
infections (HAIs)
4. Properly apply definitions for MDRO Lab ID Events (MRSA and C diff) and CAUTI
5. Understand the importance of data accuracy and integrity

Target Audience:
This program is intended for quality directors/managers, infection preventionists and data analysts.
