WEBINAR: USP 800

This webinar will discuss the major components of USP 800, such as engineering controls, personal protective equipment (PPE), and ongoing training and monitoring of staff and facilities. Additionally, it will examine how USP 800 will impact hospitals across the country.

The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) is a compendium for drug information that sets the standards for drugs in the United States. USP Chapter 800, Hazardous Drugs-Handling in the Healthcare Setting, specifically addresses the safe handling of hazardous drugs to promote patient and worker safety as well as environmental protection. This webinar will discuss the major components of USP 800, such as engineering controls, personal protective equipment (PPE), and ongoing training and monitoring of staff and facilities. Additionally, it will examine how USP 800 will impact hospitals across the country.

This session is recommended executive hospital leaders, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other interested in USP 800.

Faculty
Robert Murry, PharmD, with Putnam General Hospital, received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy in 2009. His career includes both retail and hospital experience, as well as expertise in pharmacy management and student preceptorship. Robert previously was the pharmacist in charge at a high-volume retail pharmacy, where he demonstrated strong leadership skills, a deep desire to learn and grow his department, excellence in implementing change, and a devotion to caring for patients. His previous retail experience gives him a unique understanding of the challenges patients face after discharge. At Putnam General Hospital, Robert leads his pharmacy team and works closely with administration to plan and direct pharmacy operations. He is committed to providing quality patient care and promoting positive outcomes. Robert has no real or perceived conflicts of interest that relate to this presentation.
