SCRMC Cancer Center and Infusion Center Relocates to Expand Services

South Central Regional Medical Center announced the expansion of cancer treatment and infusion services with a grand opening and ribbon cutting held Thursday evening at the
new Cancer Center and Infusion Center.
"We are delighted to revolutionize the approach to delivering care to our esteemed cancer patients," said Sandeep Singh, MD, hematologist/oncologist and Medical Director of South Central Regional Medical Center’s Cancer Center. "This facility has elevated the experience for patients, visitors and families alike. We perceive it as the pinnacle of excellence in patient care."
Focused on enhancing the patient’s experience, the facility brings together services for those receiving cancer and infusion treatment in a patient-centered environment focused on the needs of the individual.
“By combining these services, we are really focusing on the patient’s experience,” said Lisa K. Bond, MD, hematologist/oncologist at SCRMC’s Cancer Center. “We want to walk alongside our patients and families from the very moment their journey begins, and we have carefully and thoughtfully designed both this facility and the experience to exceed their expectations.”
Although the services are in adjacent locations, they are distinct and separate spaces. The Cancer Center boasts sixteen treatment bays and nine exam rooms. The infusion services area features seven treatment bays and two exam rooms. Each area has dedicated reception desks for patient check-in as well as its own support service areas for physicians, providers and staff.
“As we open the new facility, we are reminded that what has been built extends far beyond the facility itself and represents our unwavering commitment to providing world-class cancer care on a local level," said Gregg Gibbes, President and CEO of SCRMC. “As a testament to that pledge, we will welcome a third hematologist/oncologist this summer, Dr. Jacob Graham, and we are looking forward to having him join Dr. Singh and Dr. Bond.”
Located in the former Emergency Department location, the services are accessible from the ground floor of the hospital with direct entry for patients from the parking lot. This proximity provides ease of access and is steps away from extensive radiology and imaging diagnostic services, which are often a critical piece of cancer care.
Earlier this month, the hospital introduced an innovative PET/CT suite in an area that has been renovated to accommodate ultramodern imaging technology and bring PET services in-house. For more than two decades, mobile PET services have been available exclusively for oncology care. With the opening of a new PET/CT suite, the hospital is now offering state-of-the-art oncology PET/CT services with plans to include PET cardiac services later this year.
