Covington County Hospital was recognized as a Patriotic Employer by one of its employees, Staff Sergeant Cynthia Keys-Thompson, Army National Guard, on Thursday during the annual Hospital Week celebration.
Tim Lea, Training Director with Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense Office, presented the Patriotic Employer Award, which reflects the high level of support shown for an employee serving in the United States Armed Forces Guard and Reserve.
Keys-Thompson, a phlebotomist with CCH, nominated her supervisor, Tanya Magee, Laboratory Director, for being a supportive employer. This award recognizes employers providing outstanding support for their National Guard and Reserve employees and can only be initiated by the employee.
“My supervisor, Tanya Magee, is very supportive of my military career. She always asks about my training and how I am doing every time I am away or coming back from a drill,” said Keys. “She always makes sure I am never left out of any activity if I’m away.”
The formal presentation also included a signing ceremony for a Statement of Support Certificate by Covington County Hospital CEO Gregg Gibbes.
