Join Dr. Mike Presley, CEO of Sound Physician's emergency medicine practice, and Charles Kunkle, Director of Emergency Medicine Operations as they discuss what market forces will continue to impact your ED, the role of patient experience (PX) in driving market share, and the changes you need to implement to serve the community of today and tomorrow.

Mike Presley, MD, FACEP | Chief Executive Officer, Sound Physicians emergency medicine practice
Dr. Michael Presley is a board-certified emergency medicine leader with a long history of advancing the performance of emergency departments. As Sound Emergency Medicine’s chief executive officer, Dr. Presley is responsible for driving quality and financial performance of programs, developing physician leaders, and working with hospital leaders on emergency medicine department program design. Prior to joining Sound Physicians, Dr. Presley served as regional medical director for a national healthcare organization, where he was responsible for building the emergency medicine services. In this role he worked clinically, seeing patients in the emergency department and held an administrative role overseeing the performance of multiple emergency departments with a focus on staffing, patient satisfaction, overall performance with a focus on quality improvement, and community outreach. Dr. Presley completed medical school at the University of Kentucky and graduated cum laude and residency at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he graduated cum laude.

Charles Kunkle MSN, CEN, BC-NA, PHRN | Director of Emergency Medicine Operations
Charles Kunkle has over 29 years of experience as a nurse and has held multiple positions in emergency medicine, pre-hospital emergency medical services, the cardiothoracic intensive care unit and honed his clinical skills over the years practicing as a flight nurse.  He was named nurse manager of the year by the Nursing Spectrum magazine in 2006 and was featured in RN magazine in 2007. In March of 2016 Charles released his first book entitled No Time To Care; A Leadership Guide to Ensuring Caregiver Engagement.  In 2017, his book was awarded the Silver Medal, by the American Journal of Nursing.  In 2019 he was featured as the Keynote Speaker at the International Magnet Conference with over 10,000 attendees from 22 countries. In May of that year Charles joined Sound Physicians as the Director of Operations for the Emergency Medicine service line. As a trusted nurse leader with proven experience in program development, quality patient care delivery, cost reduction and successful team building, he is happy to share his innovative concepts to enhance the patient experience.
