PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This virtual program will provide valuable information for those responsible for managing the Emergency Management, Environment of Care and Life Safety programs within your hospital and health systems and who must understand Joint Commission surveys and recent changes to the standards. Information will be provided so attendees can implement a practical, continuously compliant program to achieve maximum performance while effectively preparing for Joint Commission and Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services surveys. Attendees will also receive guidance to understand and interpret the most serious deficiencies commonly found in surveys in these areas. Sufficient time will also be provided for questions and discussion. 

OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

-Identify The Joint Commission, Emergency Management, Environment of Care and Life Safety standards.
-Recall the recent changes to the EM, EOC and Life Safety chapters and determine key program management requirements within those chapters.
-Identify strategies to use The Joint Commission standards as a framework for effective program management.
-Define strategies to implement effective physical environment risk assessments in behavioral health settings.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Hospital and healthcare facility and engineering managers, plant and operations managers, nurses, infection control practitioners, administrative and clinical staff who are responsible for or who manage EOC, emergency managers, safety officers, or have accreditation and Life Safety responsibilities.

FACULTY


Mark Shamash, MS, HEM, CHSP, President of Safety and Disaster Solutions, Inc., is a Certified Healthcare Safety Professional and Healthcare Environmental Manager.

Mark holds a Master of Science degree in Safety Management and consults with over 400 healthcare facilities providing services ranging from Environment of Care mock surveys, infection prevention, life safety surveys, emergency management and continuous readiness support. He also provides training, planning and assistance in implementing operational programs for Life Safety, Emergency Management, Infection Prevention and Environment of Care.

Mark has over 21 years of experience in the safety and healthcare field and has also coordinated infection prevention research studies and white paper reviews; he is an instructor with ECRI Institute’s Center for Healthcare Environmental Management and Infection Control Risk Assessment programs.
