Items in MHA's 2007 state legislative agenda include:
- Clarification in Medicaid statues that only the Legislature has the authority to increase taxes, change payment methodologies and decrease reimbursement rates
- Additional funding for the $45 million deficit in the current fiscal year and the $90 million shortfall for fiscal year 2008
- Opposing any increases in provider taxes on hospitals
- Revisions to Medicaid laws, including the hospital bed tax, inpatient hospital services for children under the age of six and LTAC hospital services
- Continue to work to ensure fairness and equity among providers through the state's certificate of need (CON) program
- Support increased funding for the state trauma network
- Require insurance companies to honor assignment of health care benefits
- Support prompt-pay legislation
- Increase the permitted per-diem compensation for hospital board members to a permitted range of $40 to $100 (currently a $40 limit)
- Require community hospital board members to meet the same minimum eligibility criteria as entry-level employees of the hospital to which they are appointed
