TYPES OF HOSPITAL MEMBERSHIP

Type I Members - General and special hospitals (other than State mental health facilities) that provide inpatient care and are duly licensed as hospitals by the State of Mississippi and that meet minimum standards prescribed for the registration program of the American Hospital Association. Qualified representatives of members in this category may be members of the Board of Governors and may be officers of the Board of Governors.

Type II Members - Two sub-types of members. Type II-a includes the four State Mental Health Hospitals. Type II-b includes the State Regional Mental Health Centers. Type II-a members shall be eligible to serve on the Board of Governors and may be officers of the Board of Governors.

Type III Members - Limited to hospital systems, hospital management companies and other integrated healthcare delivery systems owning, operating or managing hospitals in the State of Mississippi. Qualified representatives of members in this category who live and work in the State of Mississippi may be members of the Board of Governors and may be officers of the Board of Governors.

Type IV Members - Limited to hospitals operated by the Federal government or licensed by the State of Mississippi or adjoining states that, although interested in the objectives of the Association, are not eligible for membership Type I, II or III and have been approved for membership by the Board of Governors. Type IV Members shall have no representation or officers on the Board of Governors, nor shall they have voice or vote in any House of Delegates meetings or in matters voted on via mail.

Type V Members - Includes hospitals in the planning or construction phase that, when completed and in operation, will qualify for consideration as a Type I member. Type V members shall have no representation or officers on the Board of Governors, nor shall they have voice or vote at any House of Delegates meetings or in matters voted on via mail.
