MHA's Center for Rural Health is engaged in data collection on rural health needs, policy analysis and development, the provision of technical assistance, health manpower recruitment, coordination of rural health interests state-wide, and support for rural facilities. Of the 82 counties in Mississippi, 65 are non-metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs). With 80% of the counties being non-MSAs, Mississippi is one of the most rural states in the nation.

Throughout the year, we offer educational opportunities geared towards rural health professionals. We also publish an online newsletter focusing on rural health care.
